Rescued Puppies Need Your Support
Earlier this week, we introduced you to a group of puppies who were rescued from an abandoned home in Carroll County. Having lived most, if not all of their young lives in poor conditions without proper access to food or water, they were malnourished, dehydrated and covered in hair loss by the time they arrived at KHS. To make matters worse, every single one of these puppies is riddled with Hookworms and has either been exposed to or diagnosed with Coccidia and Parvovirus. These diseases are extremely contagious and result in lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea and the inability to eat or drink. Just a single diagnosis of Hookworms, Coccidia or Parvo would be life-threatening for puppies this small. Having multiple of these illnesses is unrelenting and can cause quick, irreparable damage.

Despite our best efforts to contain and treat these diseases upon their arrival, two of the puppies passed away yesterday as a result of Parvovirus. While we’re heartbroken knowing they suffered in silence for so long, we find peace in knowing they’ll no longer feel the pain and loneliness that they endured in their short lives. Our focus now is on their 15 siblings, all of whom have their own battles to fight. They are medically quarantined and receiving round-the-clock care, including I.V. fluids, nutrition and medication.
While their prognoses remain guarded, we are holding onto hope that these sweet babies will pull through so they can experience this big, beautiful world we live in. Please donate to help us stand behind the abandoned, neglected and abused pets in our community. If you’re able, towel and blanket donations would also be extremely helpful as we care for these little puppies. You can shop our wish lists or drop off items at 241 Steedly Drive. Any help you can provide makes a big difference for the animals of Kentucky. Thank you for caring!
