18 New Pups at KHS after Being Rescued from Abandoned Home

18 New Pups Rescued and Safe at KHS

Last week, 17 puppies and 5 adult dogs were found trying to escape through broken windows and dryer vents of an abandoned home in Carroll County. Their local shelter, Carroll County Animal Shelter quickly stepped in to help but was overwhelmed by the number of puppies in this unexpected intake. Their shelter director reached out to us to see if we could help, and on Friday, our transport team hit the road.

We brought back all 17 puppies and one adult dog to be cared for at our Sam Swope Pet Treatment & Lifesaving Center. These sweet pups, all just 1.5 months old, will need a little more time to grow stronger before they can be spayed/neutered, microchipped and placed for adoption.

Wylie Burp, the 1-year-old Basset Hound we transported to Louisville, is ready for adoption today! Stop by 241 Steedly Drive to meet him and see if he’s your perfect match. The remaining adult dogs rescued are available for adoption at the Carroll County Animal Shelter.

If you’d like to help, supplies are always welcome to be donated to our shelter. They help tremendously when we have large transports like this one, especially towels and blankets. You can shop our Amazon or Chewy wish list, or drop off supplies at our 241 Steedly Drive location. Monetary donations are always appreciated as well.

You can also sign up to be a foster caregiver! Fosters help extend our shelter walls, allowing us to say yes to emergency transports. Click here to learn more.

Thank you for helping us give these animals a second chance!
