Support Animals Like Louise
A two-year-old Bulldog mix recently arrived at our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center in desperate need of help after being found on the streets by a Good Samaritan. She’s underweight by at least ten pounds and is suffering from a terrible case of cherry eye – a condition where the third eyelid prolapses, inhibiting vision and preventing tear production. Left untreated, cherry eye causes severe infections, painful irritation and inflammation due to the eye’s inability to flush out debris. We promised this poor girl we’d help her recover and named her Louise, which means “renowned warrior,” because we’ll be battling alongside her until she’s finally happy and healthy again.

Louise needs a bilateral cherry eye repair surgery, where our veterinary team will tuck the prolapsed eyelids back into place, securing them with tiny sutures. She also needs frequent, high-calorie meals to help her regain the weight she lost while fending for herself on the streets. We are keeping a close eye on Louise as she settles into our care, and will proceed with surgery within the next few days so that she can get started on the road to recovery.

We’ll keep you posted on Louise’s healing as her journey progresses but in the meantime, please donate in her honor. Support from donors like you helps us welcome animals like Louise with open arms when they need us most.
