Emaciated Senior Dog Arrives at KHS

Bambi Needs Your Support

Just a few days ago, Bambi arrived at our shelter extremely emaciated. To say we’re heartbroken for this 10-year-old dog would be a massive understatement.

Bambi weighs 14 pounds when she should weigh at least 30, and her body score is a ONE out of nine. Every bone in her frail little body protrudes, and her muscles have wasted away as she’s fought for her life. Her body is weak and even the simple act of walking across the room exhausts her. As a senior, Bambi’s condition is even more critical.

Bambi needs close monitoring to ensure she recovers without experiencing refeeding syndrome – a condition that occurs when a starved animal is reintroduced to food too quickly. Thankfully, a loving staff member has opened their home to Bambi so that she can heal without the added stress of shelter life. They will give this poor senior girl a soft place to land until she regains the weight she lost while fending for herself. Most importantly, they’ll teach Bambi about the kindness of humans and what it means to be loved.

We’re grateful Bambi made it to KHS where she will receive endless tender loving care. We promise to be by her side until she is happy and healthy again. Stand beside Bambi by donating in honor today, and your gift will double to ensure we’re able to care for twice as many emergency intakes like this one.
