Empty the Shelters! Adoption Fees Waived July 14-31 for Adult Animals

As our nation’s shelters are overburdened due to increased owner surrenders and longer stays for pets, BISSELL Pet Foundation is prompting a national call for adoption with its Summer National “Empty the Shelters” reduced-fee adoption event. From July 14-31, 2023, the Kentucky Humane will waive adoption
fees for all adult dogs and cats (1 year and older)
thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation and MetLife Pet Insurance.

“Shelters all over the country are overwhelmed with increasing intakes and decreasing adoption numbers. We are so thankful for the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s generosity, and hope that waived adoption fees for our adult animals will make finding your new best friend even easier and more affordable,” says Sara Rehfeld,
Shelter Operations Director at KHS.

Community members are encouraged to visit the KHS Main Campus at 241 Steedly Drive or East Campus at 1000 Lyndon Lane in Louisville July 14-31 to meet adoptable dogs and cats. Adoptions are processed between 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. weekends. Extended adoption hours are offered
at the KHS Main Campus on Thursdays
with adoptions processed until 6:30 p.m.

All pets adopted from KHS come with 30 days of MetLife Pet Insurance and have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given flea and tick preventatives – services which are valued at more than $300. Adoption is pending approval of an appplication process that usually takes an hour or less.
