Forrest is Fighting for His Life
At only five months old, Forrest has already known more suffering than any animal ever should. He arrived at our doors with a horrific degloving injury nearly spanning his entire neck. His injuries are so deep and dangerously placed that his jugular vein was exposed. Even a few more hours alone could have taken his life. Working on borrowed time, we sedated this puppy for emergency surgery as soon as he arrived.
Our veterinary team worked quickly to clean and close Forrest’s gaping neck wound before placing a tube to drain infection and fluid as it heals. Unfortunately, that intensive surgery was just the first step in a long road to recovery for little Forrest. His body is severely malnourished, leaving him weak and defenseless against infection. We’re combatting this by providing him with a “cocktail” of antibiotics, pain medication and anti-inflammatories, while simultaneously giving him calorie-packed meals to help him gain much-needed weight.
For now, Forrest is resting under our veterinary team’s watchful eye. We will keep you posted on his progress but in the meantime, please stand beside this sweet boy by donating in his honor.
