Finding a Path Forward for Nemo
Nemo is the new kid on the block here at the Kentucky Humane Society. She’s just one month old and was born with a severely deformed front right leg – her “lucky fin.” This birth defect has caused Nemo to favor her other three legs, widening her stance and leaving her unsteady as she grows. Thankfully, our friends at Louisville Metro Animal Services noticed her differences when she arrived at their doors as a stray. They contacted us knowing we may be able to help this sweet baby receive the specialized medical attention she needs.
Because she’s so young and feels no pain as a side-effect of her birth defect, we’re carefully observing Nemo’s mobility before determining the best path forward. She may need to undergo amputation surgery later on should her leg inhibit proper movement or risk her future health. For now, Nemo is spending her days being showered in love thanks to a dedicated staff member who’s stepped up to foster her. She’s already impressed us with her resilience and spunk, and we’re confident she’ll thrive no matter what the future holds.
