Just Keep Swimming, Nemo!

Our tiny girl Nemo is doing her best to navigate life with the cards she’s been dealt. Her front right leg is severely deformed as the result of a birth defect, making it hard for her to stand without her remaining legs bowing.

Because she’s under two months old, Nemo’s mobility is our main concern. Since her “lucky fin” does not cause her pain nor inhibit her movement or balance, we’ve placed a teeny tiny splint on her other front leg to help straighten it out. Our hope is that this splint will give Nemo the stability she needs to figure out how to navigate the world without leaning on her “lucky fin.” So far, she’s doing well using the splint to stay upright so we have hope that she may avoid amputation surgery altogether, though we’re always prepared to pivot if needed.

Nemo remains in her loving foster home, where she receives 24/7 encouragement and love. We will keep you posted on her progress but in the meantime, please donate in her honor so we can continue to provide the vulnerable pets in our community with specialized care they deserve. Thank you for caring about sweet little Nemo!
