KHS and Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center Partner to Bring Low-Cost Pet Wellness to Louisville’s West End

The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) and ASM Global managed Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center (SLC) today announced a partnership to bring low-cost pet wellness services to Louisville’s west end. For two days each month starting in July, the SLC will host the KHS CARE-a-van mobile veterinary clinic to provide local pet owners access to affordable, high-quality pet care. To launch the partnership, the CARE-a-van will offer pet wellness services for cats and dogs at SLC by appointment only on Monday, July 18 and Tuesday, July 19 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The public can schedule an appointment for their pet at kyhumane.org/careavan.

Low-cost pet wellness services that will be offered by appointment only at SLC each month include the below. Visit kyhumane.org/careavan for pricing.

  • Rabies, DA2PP, and Bordetella for dogs
  • Rabies and FVRCP for cats
  • Flea and tick preventatives
  • Micro-chipping
  • Nail trims
  • Heartworm tests

“We are thrilled to partner with Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center to bring the CARE-a-van each month to the community of caring pet owners in the west end, which is one of Louisville’s veterinary deserts,” said Kat Rooks, Kentucky Initiatives Director for KHS. “We never want access to services or financial resources to prevent pets from receiving the care they need to stay healthy.”

“We are committed to finding new ways to serve our local community and bring additional resources to the Russell Neighborhood,” said Marcus McAlpin, Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center Assistant General Manager. “We can’t thank KHS enough for this new partnership that allows us to fulfill that mission and provide affordable, ongoing opportunities to better serve the community, and we are confident local residents will embrace these services.”

The CARE-a-van is part of KHS’ Love 120 Initiative to positively impact all 120 counties in Kentucky. It is made possible by the generous support of the Joanne W. Gauntt Foundation, PetSmart Charities, Ray Foundation, Trager Family Foundation, and many other KHS supporters. For additional CARE-a-van dates at SLC, visit nortonslc.com.
