At KHS, we’re dedicated to supporting both the animals in our community and the people who love them. So, when Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana (OKI) reached out to us to help make a four-year-old animal lover’s dream of becoming a “pet doctor” come true, we couldn’t wait to be a part of it! Ellie, who is bravely undergoing treatment for leukemia, had one special wish: her very own veterinary clinic. The Make-A-Wish OKI team turned that dream into reality by building Ellie a mini vet clinic in the basement of her home, complete with a personalized white coat and cuddly stuffed animals.
To make Ellie’s wish day even more special, KHS joined in to give her a true vet experience. Dakota, one of our wonderful veterinary assistants, showed her the ropes of her new space and gave her a tour of our CARE-a-van mobile veterinary clinic. We also brought along two sweet four-week-old puppies—whom Ellie lovingly named Rubble and Chase, after some of her favorite Paw Patrol characters! Seeing her face light up was an experience we’re extremely grateful for and will never forget.
Ellie’s passion for animals is truly inspiring. We’re so grateful to have been a part of her wish day and are sending her words of support as she continues her treatment. You’ve got this, Ellie!
