Purrfect Day Cafe Celebrates 3rd Anniversary with Week of Events

Most Successful Cat Café in the Country Closing in on 5,000th Adoption

When “Purrprietor” Chuck Patton opened Louisville’s first cat café on August 8, 2018, he expected to find homes for about 300 Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) cats a year, based on the number of annual adoptions other cat cafés did.

Little did he or KHS know that Purrfect Day Café would go on to become an adoption powerhouse – finding homes for 1,302 cats the first year, 1,644 cats the second year and over 1,900 cats the third year – an incredible feat, especially during the COVID pandemic. Patton expects the 5,000th adoption will take place in mid-August.

“When we opened three years ago, we had no idea we would complete more adoptions than any other cat cafe in the country. This benchmark is as much of a celebration of the community that has supported us as it is about the café itself,” said Patton. “Without the support of KHS, our generous volunteers, the fosters who helped raise our kitties and the community of adopters and visitors, we would not be the success we are today.”

Located at 1741 Bardstown Road, the café provides cat adoptions six days a week along with coffees, cocktails, pastries and snacks. It has become a “must see” destination, not only for local cat lovers, but visitors from across the country.

To mark their third-year anniversary, the café is inviting the public to celebrate with them. The weeklong celebration kicks off Tuesday, August 3. The café will be decorated with balloons and there will be special celebration cakes. There is a $15 fee to visit the cat lounge, and online reservations are strongly recommended at www.purrfectdaycafe.com.

The week culminates with an Adopter Appreciation Celebration Friday-Sunday, August 6-8. Anyone who adopted from Purrfect Day Café is invited to stop by the café between 11am and 8pm. The first 300 adopters who come by and show café staff a photo of their adopted kitty will get a free gift. The café will offer “Happy Meower” specials all day.
