Three Month Old Puppy In Critical Condition

Wilbur, a three-month-old puppy, recently arrived at our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center in critical condition. His frail little body is covered with demodectic mange, leaving his skin hairless, scab-covered and infection-ridden. With his skin exposed and unprotected, every touch or slight movement leaves poor Wilbur in immense pain. To make matters even worse, he is suffering from Giardia – a parasitic intestinal infection that causes extreme diarrhea, dehydration and lethargy. We know healing will be an uphill climb for little Wilbur, but have promised to be by his side through it all.

Wilbur

Wilbur is being treated with antibiotics, pain medication and dewormer in hopes of making him comfortable enough to rest. Because he is Giardia positive, he must remain quarantined in our treatment ward until he tests negative to avoid spreading disease. In the meantime, we will provide him with all of the tender loving care he’s been desperately craving in his short three months of life. Wilbur will receive daily medicated baths to sooth his skin and promote healing, while also getting plenty of nutrition, fluids and rest. We will update you as we know more about Wilbur’s condition but for now, we need you to stand behind the vulnerable animals in our community by donating through the button below. Today is the LAST DAY of our Spring Match campaign, so all gifts made by midnight tonight will DOUBLE, up to $15,000, thanks to our friends at Strategic Communications. Thank you for caring!
