Reduced Adoption Fees Aug. 17 During National Clear the Shelters Event

Ready for a new “fur-ever friend”? This Saturday the Kentucky Humane Society is offering $5 adoption fees for adult cats and $40 for select adult dogs during the national Clear the Shelters adoption event August 17.

The event is part of NBC’s and Telemundo’s fifth annual Clear the Shelters animal adoption drive, presented by Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

In addition to paying $5 adoption fees for cats one year and older and $40 adoption fees for select dogs one year and older, Jefferson County adopters pay a $10.50 licensing fee. Donations are gratefully accepted.

The KHS East Campus at 1000 Lyndon Lane is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Feeders Supply adoption centers are open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Dixie (Valley Station), Fern Creek, Hikes Point, Preston, North Dixie, Springhurst and St. Matthews. Purrfect Day Café is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Adoptions will stop about one hour before the centers close. Adopters should bring a leash for dogs and carriers for cats, or purchase at the adoption location.

“We are thrilled to help families find their next furry family member during this national adoption event,” said Robin Vincent, KHS Shelter Operations Director. “Summer is the busiest time of the year for animal shelters, and the faster we find great adopters, the more animals we can help.”

All KHS dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. All KHS adoptions include a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet, as well as a coupon book from Feeders Supply.
