Create a Pet Independence Day: $4 Cat Adoptions and $17.76 Dog Adoptions July 5-7
The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) invites the public to create a “pet independence day” for grateful shelter pets by adopting this weekend.
During the “Pet Independence Adoption Celebration” July 5-7, 2019, cats 4 months and older can be adopted for $4, and dogs 4 months and older can be adopted for $17.76, in honor of the founding of the country. Jefferson County adopters also pay for pet licensing fees ($10.50) and donations are gratefully accepted.
According to KHS, July is typically the busiest month of the year for animal intakes, so they are hoping this adoption special will make room for incoming pets.
“Right now, not only is our shelter full, but shelters across Kentucky are at capacity. Every adoption we do this weekend will help make room for pets who will need our help,” said KHS spokesperson Andrea Blair.
The adoption special takes place at the KHS East Campus at 1000 Lyndon Lane, Purrfect Day Café at 1741 Bardstown Road and at KHS adoption centers in seven local Feeders Supply stores.
All pets adopted from KHS have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm, flea and tick preventatives – services which are valued at more than $250. The adoption special runs July 5-7. Adoption is pending approval of an application process that usually takes an hour or less.
