Dogs and Babies: Preparing your pup for your new family member.
Are you a dog owner expecting a new (human) baby? First, congratulations! This is such an exciting time. And it can also be a stressful one. There are so many things to get done – preparing the nursery, doctor’s appointments, laundry, birth plans; the list is endless.
For a household with dogs, there is a whole other list of questions. How are they going to react to a new baby? How is this going to change life for them? How do I help my dog before and after baby arrives? The good news is that there are so many things you can do in advance that can reduce your stress and your dog’s stress too. We want to help you prepare so you can enjoy your time at home with you baby and your dog.
This class is taught by a certified professional dog trainer who just welcomed her first baby into her home. With three dogs of her own, she is speaking from a place of recent and ongoing experience and understands the concerns and importance of education and taking steps ahead of time.
Join us for a 90-minute workshop to learn how to identify potential challenges, prepare your home, what special arrangements you can make for your dog, and what basic training and practice you can do in advance so your entire household is ready for your new baby.
*This class is for humans only. If you are interested in behavior training for you and your dog, you can find more information about group and private training services on our website here: https://www.kyhumane.org/services/dog-training
