Dog Fighting for His Life at KHS

On January 2, 2022, the Kentucky Humane Society received a dog in terrible condition after a local Uber driver was stunned to discover the poor dog lying limp on the side of the road. The poor animal’s coat was filthy, covered in feces, and matted in several places all over his body. He is severely emaciated with a body scale score of 1 out of 9, the lowest body scale possible for an animal, which puts him in danger of death by starvation. He weighs a mere 14 pounds and should weigh at least 30 pounds. In addition to this, he has infected pressure sores all over his body with the most severe sores being located on his right side. His scrotum is also badly infected and he had maggots crawling all over his body.

Unable to stand and barely able to keep his head up, Travolta is weighed for the first time.

This poor baby, whom we’ve named Travolta, is only around a year old and our veterinarian believes he’s been in this horrific state for weeks, potentially months. He is unable to stand at this time and can barely lift his head due to how malnourished he is. Travolta has been receiving round-the-clock care in our veterinary ward since his arrival and we are doing everything we can to save him.

Please keep Travolta in your thoughts and prayers as he fights for his life. Donations in his honor are gratefully accepted at www.kyhumane.org/donate. As a nonprofit organization, the Kentucky Humane Society relies completely on donations to save the lives of animals like Travolta. Thank you for your compassion and support. We will keep everyone updated on his progress through our Facebook page and you can follow along here.
