Cats like Bitsy Need Your Support
Bitsy is only four months old and has already suffered unimaginable pain. She recently came to our Sam Swope Pet Treatment & Lifesaving Center with a life-threatening tail injury. This poor kitten’s tail was broken and degloved, meaning muscle and tissue were exposed. With infection seeping from her wounds, we knew Bitsy was only days away from a fatal spinal infection and rushed to prepare her for emergency surgery.
Due to the severity of Bitsy’s injuries and her high risk of fatal infection, we opted to perform an emergency tail amputation surgery. Thankfully surgery was successful, and Bitsy is now recovering under the watchful eye of our veterinary team. She is receiving daily rounds of medication to keep her comfortable as her body continues to course out the infections that threatened to take her life.
Bitsy will need a few days to adjust to her new “normal” but is expected to make a full recovery. In the meantime, please donate in Bitsy’s honor and help us continue to welcome vulnerable animals with open arms when they need us most.
