Darling, an emaciated poodle-mix puppy, was dropped at our doors earlier this week, alone in the rain, emaciated and scared. Her extreme malnourishment left her ribs and spine visible, and she could barely walk due to severe matting that restricted her frail body. The KHS veterinary team rushed her in to provide emergency care, and shaved off her urine and fecal-soaked coat. They determined her body condition score to be just 2 out of 9, meaning Darling has no body fat or muscle.
Since arriving, Darling has unfortunately continued showing signs of illness, with vomiting and diarrhea, and disinterest in eating independently. She also shakes in fear when approached by new people, likely from the trauma she has endured.
KHS is committed to helping Darling regain her health and learn to trust again, but we need your support. Please consider donating, and help us continue to care for our community’s most vulnerable animals.
Your support impacts animals like Darling, who come to KHS in need of medical attention, advocacy and most importantly, love. Thank you for your compassion!
Thank you for considering a gift to help sweet Darling and other pets in need.
Wonder Woman Thanks You
Wonder Woman’s infected wounds are slowly healing after her suspected animal attack. She even had the tubes removed from her shoulder that were temporarily placed to allow the infection to drain from her body. Thank you to the kind supporter who surprised Wonder Woman with a care package! She immediately laid on her new blanket and snuggled Dr. Bewley, as if she knew the gift was for just for her. Our sweet Wonder Woman will continue to rest and recover day by day until she is healed. Thank you for cheering her on, donating in her honor, and sending her gifts. Your support means the world to us and our animals.
