The Kentucky Humane Society launched Date with a Dog out of the Sam Swope Pet Retreat on February 22nd.

The Pet Retreat is a rehabilitation center for shelter dogs with behavioral challenges. Through the Date with a Dog program, volunteers, fosters and even staff can pick up a dog from the Pet Retreat and take them out for an adventure in the park, a stroll through a dog-friendly business or even a relaxing afternoon at home.

This program gives dogs a break from the stress of the shelter environment and provides valuable feedback on their behavior in a real-world environment. While it is currently only available to dogs at the Pet Retreat, we hope to expand to adoption locations soon.
