June 12 CARE-a-van Clinic at Change Today, Change Tomorrow

Republic Bank Sponsors Free Vaccines and Flea & Tick Preventatives for Cats and Dogs at KHS CARE-a-van Mobile Veterinary Clinic

The Kentucky Humane Society’s CARE-a-van mobile veterinary clinic will be at Change Today, Change Tomorrow’s headquarters on Monday, June 12, to provide local pet owners with low cost, high-quality pet wellness services. Change Today, Change Tomorrow (CTCT) is a Black woman-led Louisville non-profit that focuses on food justice, community engagement and public health.

Core vaccines and one month of flea and tick preventatives for dogs and cats will be free, sponsored by Republic Bank. All other CARE-a-van services will be available at their regular affordable prices.

Appointments are required and available from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. The public can schedule an appointment for their pet at kyhumane.org/careavan.

“The pet-owning community in the West End is at a greater risk for health complications for their animals due to lack of access to care. We are excited to partner with KHS and Republic Bank to help remove the financial and transportation barriers keeping our neighbors from accessing the care their pets need,” said Icyreen Ford, CTCT Program and Fundraising Manager.

Pet wellness services will be offered by appointment at CTCT’s headquarters, 902 S 15th St, Louisville, KY 40210. Visit kyhumane.org/careavan to make an appointment. Clients pay a $5 deposit to reserve the appointment, which will be refunded at time of the appointment or deducted from other services purchased. Services include:

  • Rabies (over 4 months of age), DA2PP, and Bordetella for dogs (free)
  • Rabies (over 4 months of age) and FVRCP for cats (free)
  • One month of flea and tick preventative (free)
  • Micro-chipping
  • Nail trims
  • Heartworm tests and preventatives

“We are thrilled to partner with Change Today, Change Tomorrow and are so grateful that Republic Bank is sponsoring free vaccines and flea and tick preventatives for dogs and cats,” said Kat Rooks, Kentucky Initiatives Director for KHS. “We never want access to services or financial resources to prevent pets from receiving the care they need to stay healthy.”

“Republic Bank is very proud to sponsor this initiative to support the health and wellness of the animals in our community. As an avid animal advocate, I am personally so thankful to work for an organization that takes this mission seriously and puts the resources behind it to really make a difference,” said Jessica Beatty, CTP, Vice President of Treasury Management, Republic Bank.

The KHS CARE-a-van mobile veterinary clinic visits neighborhoods throughout Kentucky to provide affordable pet care as part of KHS’ Love 120 Initiative to positively impact all 120 counties in Kentucky. It is made possible by the generous support of the Joanne W. Gauntt Foundation, PetSmart Charities, The Rachael Ray Foundation, Trager Family Foundation, and many other KHS supporters.
